Switzerland - The Highest Glacier Palace in The World -Matterhorn - Zermatt

It was in the month of December when i and my family spontaneously spent our Christmas winter holiday for a week in Täsch.

Finding an apartment in Zermatt is difficult to get at this high season, so we rented an apartment in a hotel complex in Täsch with wellness and spa accomodation.

Täsch is just a few minutes ride with a shuttle train to Zermatt. The big vehicle station parking area is intended for all visitors and tourist to park and ride on a train from Täsch to Zermatt.

Zermatt is a free vehicle city with only electro taxis operating. It has several gondola rail stations for skiing, snowboarding, hiking and center point of many winter and summer activities.

We were so lucky having 4 warm sunny days like spring weather in the month of December. Our last 3 days were gray with snow storms spending our time in the inside pool, training center, table tennis, an option is also taking a sauna or solarium.

The third day of our holiday, my daughter and her boyfriend went snowboarding in Sunnegga ski station.

From Zermat, my husband, my son and i took the europes' highest altitude railway station to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The six seats gondola Matterhorn Express from Zermatt to Trockener Steg is about 25 minutes, then we made a change ride with a cable car to Glacier Paradise. The whole ride took us about 40 minutes reaching the peak station.

Upon arriving we spent a few minutes taking a cup of coffee, warm choco milk in the restaurant, an altitude of 3'883 meters with a magnificent view of the Swiss, French, Italian alpine mountains. This is the starting point to hike across the glacier or climb the Breithorn at 4'000 meters. Watch out for crevasses!!!

The Glacier Paradise is the peak of the international ski area. A great place for summer (largest in Europe) and winter skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing with several stations open 300 days a year.

Montblanc, the highest alp mountain and the Lady Matterhorn is so near to admire. We were almost in the Italian territory.

My husband and my son had to take a deep breath because of the altitude. The air is so thin we rather take time and relax.

The entrance of the Glacier Palace is reach through 2 elevators 15 meters underground from the glacier surface. The elevators are just adjuscent to the restaurant located in the peak station of the little Matterhorn.

We passed through a long ice tunnel, as we observed several amazing, mystical ice crystal forms, the spectacular crevasses, the ice sculptures with colorful lightings, my son enjoyed a short glacier ride, the beautiful ice chapel, the wonder of nature, the glacier world.
